My Grandma always said...

"Misery loves company!"

So hunker down, sister, and lets wallow in my misery here.

I'm cranky. With a Capital C and a Capital R.

Big time, serious, out of control CRanky.

My mouth hurts.

Still.

My dumb dentist now tells me I have a jaw bone that is infected AND bruised and it's gonna be another ten days or so until it starts feeling better. He proved this to me by poking me in about ten places in my mouth that made me want to scream and/or strangle him. Instead of either, I shouted out,

"WHAT!!!! This is gonna hurt for how much longer?!?"

Ten more days of CRanky! Doesn't he realize how terrified this news will make Mr. Jenny? And my dog, Oskar?

AND...

If that's not bad enough...I have a piece of corn stuck in the tooth hole.

I kid you not.

Why was I dumb enough to attempt to eat corn anyway? And now, there it sits, all smug and corn-like and driving my tongue crazy because I can't get it out of there and I can't look in a little mirror inside my mouth because it kinda/sorta makes me sick.

CRanky. I tell ya.

OK.

AND...

On top of that people around me are in good moods.

WHAT the heck is that about?!?

Can't they see I have corn stuck in a tooth-hole and that my entire jaw is killing me?

Seriously.

CRanky.

And...

Last night I asked Mr. Jenny to just smother me with a pillow because I cannot stand this ridiculous face pain any longer and when I told him he had to be careful not to touch my face when he was doing it because it would hurt too much if he actually touched me, he LAUGHED at me.

Laughed, I tell ya.

Foolish, foolish Mr. Jenny. Having the audacity to not smother a woman with a bone infection AND a piece of corn stuck in a tooth hole by NOT touching her face with a pillow.

Seriously.

I fear for the man.

And I was hoping that hunkering down with you all and sharing my misery would make me a little less hostile.

But it didn't.

So...

I need to go now...

Oh Mr. Jenny, sweetie pie...where are you?

mwahahahahahahahahahahaha!

And...

Sigh...

Ouch. That sigh hurt!

Mmmm. "Jenny Cracked Corn," wasn't that a song? Get out the water pick, it usually flushes out anything.

Yikes! Not the waterpic! Imagine the pain of pressurized water on a raw nerve! I think you'd be in more trouble than Mr. Jenny! How about a little light "schlooshing" with some green tea?

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH Ouch....well you can be Miss Cranky....you just do it!!!!

Wow I cannot imagine infection in the bone!!!!

How about rinsing with some warm salt water to try to get that pesky piece of corn!!!!!

Wishing you a better day today...hope the pain is a bit better!!

Love ya girlie!!!

OH man....that really does sound horrible. I can't stand mouth pain, dentist work, etc. I will come be miserable with you if you want.

Poor Jenny! I know how bad tooth and jaw pain can be. You go right ahead and be cranky if it helps!

As for the corn, whatever you do, do it quickly like you would when removing a band-aid. Then take your pain medication and lay down for a while!

Julie Kwiatkowski Schuler said...

Oh, that's not good. I thought they put a stitch over the tooth hole so stuff couldn't get in there? And you should have been on antibiotics from the day of the extraction. I hope you have some strong antibiotics and pain meds now. I'm not a naturally litigious person, but.....

Mid-Atlantic Martha said...

Poor thing! Nothing to help? I'd be asking for one of those medically induced comas for ten days ---and I KNOW Mr. Mid-Atlantic would too. Actually, he'd agree to the pillow thing.

(covering my mouth and stifling my giggle) I am sorry I found giggles in your CRankiness. I love you Cousin!!!

Owie! Maybe you can get the mister to take some sterile tweezers and gently lift the corn out?

I wouldn't use a water pic! It can cause you to get dry socket! And dry socket is painful too! Owie!

I feel for you. Never heard of bone infection and I wouldn't want to experience it either. The things we do to keep our real teeth in our head! ~Ames

Hey! I've got a whole bottle of Percocet left over from a certain breast reduction operation in October. I took a couple but I didn't like the trip to Mars so I settled for Advil.

But it's yours if you want.

Wait a minute. Is that legal??

Forget it! Prison is too confining for me. And I hear it's noisy.

Diane said...

I think this deserves the right to be cranky!
So sorry. Hope you are all better soon!

Renae said...

Awww...hope you feel better soon! And I think being CRanky is just fine considering the pain you are in.

Donnie said...

Man, you have no luck at all! I had new crowns put in and ate a caramel apple so I can empathize some with the corn. A dentist does not like having to extract the crown from a blob of caramel....lol...Hope you have enough pain pills.

Hey Girlfriend,

Sorry about the pain in your bone. I've been there, and now two teeth are gone because of it. You better get back to the dentist to get that corn out, or you'll just be adding to the infection, or I'll come over and yank it out fur ya'! I love inflicting pain!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding.

Love ya'
Meri

Oh, sweet Jenny, I feel for you. You be cranky and do whatever it takes to feel better and ease that awful pain. I cannot believe your wonderful humor shines through so horrific pain. Hope you figure out a way to remove that corn kernel. Hugs

Just take a couple of Advil and snuggled back down in bed! The antibiotics should kick in soon!!

You have corn stuck in an already infected jaw hole??????? Get thee back to your dentist, to have him get it out!!!!!!!

What are you waiting for? For it to rot and ferment in there??? And make everything worse???

Get-To-Dentist!!!

Then report back to us!!!

Do it! Do it! Do it! I hate the thought of a piece of corn, fermenting in your jaw hole!!!!! Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am thinking the waterpick couse cause my problems. I spent 3 years in the dental office and thousands $$$$ .I sympathise with ya Jenny.

They tried to do a root canal once, well, actually not once since they tried to do it three different times on the same tooth. They ended up pulling the tooth and for years afterwards I ran around with that a bottle of pain killers in my purse, scared to death another tooth would put me through the same hell. A bone infection on top of a root canal must be so much worse.OW...ee!!! I'm so sorry you are suffering.

Busy Bee Suz said...

I am so sorry this is dragging out and dragging YOU down too.
You might need to go have Mr. Dentist get that corn kernel out though...or have Mr. Jenny use the vacuum hose???
Take your pain meds...and a hot bath. And fuss at your husband, that always makes me feel better.

Pondside said...

Big, big sympathy, Jenny. I think you'd better get on over to see the dentist and have the piece of corn sucked out before it starts its own little bacteria farm and causes more pain.

Linda @ A La Carte said...

Jenny, get the corn out girl! I'm with the others and hope you have some meds but agree being Cranky is OK, not fun but OK. Hope the 10 days fly by!

BlackLOG said...

Well be thankful your sweet corn kernel got lodged in your tooth...better than getting to inspect it on the way out, if you know what I mean….

P.S. Good luck to Mr Jenny, try and go easy on him, I’m sure he was trying to laugh with you and not at you....

Cindy Adkins said...

Oh gosh, Jenny...it's awful. A month ago, I ate something and felt something in my mouth...I thought it was the food--it was a crown that came off of my tooth!!! Luckily, I didn't swallow it--it's $1500!
And I went right to the dentist and he put it back on...

So, when I read what happened to you, I knew you could relate!

Now, I have to think about what my "U" word is going to be for Thursday...Too bad that corn doesn't start with a "U!" It could have worked out perfectly for you! I hope things get resolved really quickly and I'm so sorry you had to go through this...it's awful.

Hi Jenny,
I am so sorry. My husband had a tooth abscess and I've never seen him in so much pain. A great story. But I would be cranky too.

I am so sorry! That sounds awful. Can I join you in your misery? I mean, another day because it is 55* outside, and I have missed warm weather. But with your infected bone, and my infected tonsils, we can have an awesome pity party. Good luck with that corn.

Who knew that we would have to have days like this! I feel for you Jenny, I've had my share of dental woes..it's not easy...but think of all the days Mr. jenny can be at your beckon call....isn't that what spouses are supposed to do when we are down and sobbing and cranky.....hmmm maybe Mrs. Jenny needs Mr. Jenny to the resuce!!!with a night out on the town, or a quick over stay some place cool...or her favorite movie....oh what could hubby plan to take your mind off YOUR pain! haha I do hope your mouth gets healed, one of my co-workers is suffering with jaw issues, she's in her twenties too, and let me tell you she is not any fun to be around right now! She got a tatoo last night to take her mind off her pain...I'm just saying....what she did...kinda crazy but whatever!

Susan Anderson said...

That totally stinks, Jenny. And if you really do still have corn stuck in your tooth, you need to go have it removed, pronto, or that infection will just simmer.

I can't even joke at or laugh about tooth pain. It is too excruciating, and I will be praying for you today.

ahhh man I am really sorry that you are going through this. I too after having several rooted to my jaw molars pulled got an infection in my jaw and oh how I sympathize with you the pain is off the charts!! You go right ahead and be CRanky and I'm sorry but I got a good giggle out of the way you described the corn being stuck! I hope he gave you some good drugs and that you mend quickly

okay, you totally deserve to be Little Miss Cranky right now ... but it is good to see that you are also Little Miss Funny as well cuz your sense of humour is as good as ever ... and even through your pain you manage to entertain us! my gosh you are a brave little toaster ... and so is dear Mr. Jenny ...

HOW DARE the people around to be in a good mood!!!
I'm sorry you are in pain! didn't he give you drugs to take care of that?

Nancy/BLissed-Out Grandma said...

(1) Take drugs. (2) Get that corn outta there. (3) Take more drugs. Seriously. Years ago I had lots of tooth-related pain for a while. I remember taking Percodan... my mouth still hurt but I didn't care! :-)

Has anyone seen Mr. Jenny in the last couple of days? You've probably tied him to a fencepost somewhere until he atones for his sins.

At least, you have the most adorable granddaughter who seems t perform on cue - as long as you feed her. Not bad at all.

I really commiserate with your dental pain. I have only recently found a dentist that I love - and it took me sixty years!!

Dapoppins said...

Did you smother him with the pillow...?

Why no pain meds? Even if they don't work great on me I would demand the dentist give me 5 different pain meds till we find one that work because I birthed three baby's without pain meds which means by a law of congress and nature that I never ever have to feel any pain of any kind again!

Deb said...

Jenny getting caught up on your posts..you always make me smile or laught....your granddaughter is so cute and such a good helper..I hope your 10 days of pain go by fast...and I hope Mr. Jenny doesn't use the pillow...we would miss you so.....

Betty said...

I had a few minutes this morning to catch up. I've never heard of the bone getting infected after a tooth is extracted...YIKES! I bet that hurts. You'd think after the tooth is gone things would get better. Can you get stronger pain killers? How about a nice, soft diet? Hope it's a lot better each day.
