How to NOT start a road trip right!

Follow these simple instructions to start a road trip in a not particularly pleasant fashion.

1.   Wake your person at approximately 3:12 am on the morning you are leaving.

2.   Ask them an extremely relevant question.  An example of which might be, "How do you suppose  someone figured out how to roll out corn kernels to make corn flakes?"

3.  Prepare for your person to be cranky for a hundred miles or so since you woke them up so early.

Sigh.

I am neither confirming or denying that I did, indeed, wake Mr. Jenny with this exact question.

But, seriously.

How do YOU suppose someone figured out how to roll out corn kernels to make corn flakes?

I mean, really.   Think how long it would have taken to make just one bowl of cereal.

Sigh.

You know how sometimes song lyrics...

...get stuck in your brain...

and you are compelled to sing them over and over and over and over and over (teehee!) again...

...to the irritation and dismay of others...

(in my case Mr. Jenny's)

...and you realize that the song lyrics you are singing have absolutely nothing to do with what is going on in your life but you can't stop, regardless.

Yeah.

Me, too.

I get all that.

Because I have been singing Neil Diamond's "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show"...

Over and over.

"Pack up the babies,
and grab the old ladies...
'cause everyone knows
brother Love's show
Hallelujah!"

(if you don't know this song you can click on the title above for a link!)

Anyway.

I think I've been singing this 'cuz we are getting for a little road trip!

We're off to see our Grandson, Quinn who celebrated his first birthday a few weeks ago.

I've been painting all kinds of stuff to take up in the truck!

Signs.

A little picnic table.

A rocking chair!

A growth chart!

For some reason our laden down pick-up truck is making me think of this song.

Although it's not August.

And I don't even know who Brother Love is.

Hot August night and the leaves hangin' down
And the grass on the ground smellin' - sweet
Move up the road to the outside o' town
And the sound o' that good gospel beat
Sits a ragged tent, where there ain't no trees
And that gospel group, tellin' you and me

It's Love, Brother Love
Say Brother Love's Travellin' Salvation Show
Pack up the babies and grab the old ladies
And everyone goes, 'cause everyone knows, Brother Love's show

I love road trips, man!

I just hope I can get this song out of my head before my husband leaves me at a rest stop somewhere between Arizona and Idaho!

Hallelujah, baby!

We're rolling north!

I hope you and Brother Love have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Painted Alphabet - Letter A

Aloha from sunny Arizona.

Or perhaps when you read this I will be in sunny Idaho!

We're leaving in the morning for a road-trip!   I'll tell you why on Thursday's post.

In the meantime.

Ahem.

Nothing says Alphabe-Thursday like...

...

ta!da!

The alphabet!

15" x 16"

I highlighted the letter "R" for our youngest Grandlittle, Remington.

This picture totally cracks me up!   Look at his hands and feet moving at blur speed!

I think he's really adorable.

But then...

I might be biased!

Sign is hand-painted and available in my Etsy shop...you can see the mini link at the top right of my blog or click on any picture for a link!  No stickers...no stencils...my designs.

Alphabe-Thursday Letter A

Good morning class. Welcome to round SEVEN of Alphabe-Thursday!

Gosh.   Hard to imagine we've done six rounds of this already!   I still think it's fun and I'm glad some of you do, too!

I look forward to seeing what you have to share...and I want to thank each of you personally for participating. Sometimes life feels so chaotic that I like the steadiness of one little thing I can depend on!

Today we will be sharing all aspects of the letter:

Please link directly to your Alphabe-Thursday URL (if you don't know how to do this let me know!) and please continue to visit the five links before and after your link and leave a comment. Minimum of 10 links visited please. You can visit more if you like, of course.

I also want to let you know that each week I visit every blog. If it appears I haven't visited your blog by the following Thursday morning, please let me know!

If you have any difficulties with your link, please make sure to include the number of the link when you e-mail me. It is really difficult for me to find you easily otherwise.

If you have any questions about Alphabe-Thursday or problems doing your link just post it in a comment or send me an e-mail. I'll do my best to help you as quickly as I can.

I also want to mention that sometimes when I visit wordpress blogs the only way I can leave a comment is by using an e-mail address DIFFERENT than the one I have linked to blogger.  If you see odd e-mail address that's why I'm doing it.

The McLinkey will be live from 1:00 pm MST time Wednesday afternoon in an effort to assist our lovely "friends across the pond" and continue through 10:00 am MST time Friday morning!

And remember.... link back to this post, you need to be registered as a follower of my blog, PG posts only, and try to visit at least 10 other students (perhaps the 5 students before and after your post). The links will stay live after the final post deadline has passed so you can even wait and visit over the weekend or whenever you have more time.

Please advise us what your A post is, by linking now:

The Days of Swine and Roses

Okay.

Technically it was a single day.

Just one.

And not even a full day.

It was maybe 30 minutes.  But in that time period...

I swear I heard heavenly violins playing.

And I am almost positive I saw angels dancing.

Not going to quite guarantee the roses...

...but the swine.

Oh, baby.

The swine.

Saturday Mr. Jenny and I had an errand to do that involved driving to the 'Edge of the Earth, Arizona.'

We were headed that direction anyway because that's where our youngest Granddaughter, Mo, plays soccer.

At an indoor arena.

Hee hee.

Gotta love indoor arenas when you live in Arizona.

After the soccer game (Miss Mo scored 4 (according to us) and 5 (according to her) goals)...

...we needed to drive quite a way to pick up a picnic table we had made for our Grandson Quinn's first birthday.

We drove.

We drove.

We checked our directions.

We drove.

And then...

Out of the corner of my eye I saw it.

A giant pink pig.

With eyelashes.

"OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD!" I shrieked to Mr. Jenny.   "STOPSTOPSTOPYOUGOTTASTOP!   THIS IS THE PORK SHOP EVERYBODY TELLS US ABOUT!!!! STOP!"

Mr. Jenny heaved a mighty sigh.

Looked at me across the truck cab.

Raised an eyebrow.

"Everybody?   Everybody in the whole entire world tells you about the pork shop?"

 I blushed.
"Okay, not technically everybody!" (insert eye roll here)  "Tom told us about it!   Remember?   Remember how we were talking about furnace filtures and then how we ..."

Mr. Jenny stopped me.

"That's fine.   Let's go in and see what they have!"

And he turned the truck into the parking lot!

squuuuueeeeaaaalllll!

I was excited.

I was more excited than...

Well.

Just trust me.

I was excited.

And I was even more excited when we went inside and it was SAUSAGE SAMPLING DAY!

Seriously.

I'm not making this up.

SAUSAGE SAMPLING DAY!

There were crockpots and platters everywhere.

See what I mean about heavenly angels?

And there was a cool guy with a 'stache.

And.

Did I mention there was lots and lots of sausage samples.

Oh.
My.

Seriously.

Swine and Roses.

I kid you not.

If you can't make it to the Pork Chop to try their delectable offerings, you can at least read about the 'stache guy by clicking here.

PS.   Sorry about the formatting.   Blogger is excited about the Pork Chop, too, and it just won't concentrate on letting me put appropriate spacing in.
